“…2 The visual impact of a posterior keratoconus is usually minimal because of the insignificant role of the posterior corneal surface in the refractive condition of the eye; 6 as 85% of the refractive power of the cornea is produced by the anterior surface, 5 although, amblyopia secondary to posterior keratoconus has been reported, 7 it is more common when the disease is unilateral (like in this case) than in bilateral cases. 5 Keratoconus posticus may be also syndromically associated to systemic conditions as broad nose, hypertelorism, short stature, median facial clefting, genitourinary abnormalities, and abnormal gait; 8 also with associated ocular conditions as retinal disease, corneal and lens opacities. Our patient did not present any of these systemic conditions.…”
