“…Cesario et al have investigated the effects of a shorter program (4 weeks) of pulmonary in-patient rehabilitation treatment carried out on 25 patients undergoing lung resection; the rehabilitation program included a training cycle ergometer endurance, strength exercises and educational sessions. Compared with a group of patients who had refused the rehabilitation protocol, the distance during the walk test significantly increased, while there were no modifications in spirometry data [86]. Finally, Jones et al have evaluated the benefits of an aerobic training program in an outpatient regime of 20 post-surgical patients.…”

“…2,5 yıl içinde küçük hücreli dışı akciğer kanseri nedeni ile akciğer rezeksiyonu olan hastalarda uygulanan 4 haftalık hastane içi PR programının (hasta eğitimi, solunum kas eğitimi, maksimal iş yükünün %70-80 şiddetin-de aerobik egzersiz programı, üst-alt ekstremite egzersizleri, abdominal kas egzersizleri), hastaların dispneve yorgunluk şiddetini azalttığı, yaşam kalitesini, kas kuvvetini, solunum fonksiyonlarını ve egzersiz kapasitelerini önemli derecede geliştirdiği tespit edilmiştir (67).…”

“…There is no direct evidence supporting an additional role of bronchodilators in the lung resection candidate beyond what would be standard use for COPD or asthma. A study showed that post-operative respiratory rehabilitation after lung resection for lung cancer was beneficial for the Borg dyspnea scale, exercise capacity represented by 6-minute walk distance, and maintenance of lung function (Cesario, et al 2007). The inpatient rehabilitation program included supervised incremental exercise and educational sessions covering such topics as pulmonary physiopathology, pharmacology of patients' medications, dietary counseling, relaxation and stress management techniques, energy conservation principles, and breathing retraining.…”
