Abstract: POSSIBLE STRATIFORM STROMATOLITES IN THE DUNOON PHYLLITES We wish to report the occurrence of possible relict stratiform stromatolites ('algal mat') in limestone beds from the Dunoon Phyllites of the Dalradian Southern Highland Group (Harris and Pitcher 1975). The Dunoon Phyllites consist of black, grey and purple slates, and black limestones, and belong to Roberts' (1966) "Black Slate Affiliation".
