“…Transient hypercalcemia has been reported after implantation of antibiotic‐impregnated calcium sulfate beads in revision arthroplasty in man . Transient hypercalcemia has also been reported in two studies in which an alloplastic calcium sulfate implant was used to fill bone defects in dogs . The US Food and Drug Administration recommends caution when considering implantation of resorbable calcium salts in patients with preexisting hypercalcemia .…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Therefore, a firm stabilization is necessary. PerOssal creates an optimal environment for new bone formation, which can provide normal bone structure with time [14,25,26] . In addition, PerOssal is radiopaque allowing the surgeon to monitor the degradation process during follow-up periods.…”

“…Some studies have reported that calcium sulphate itself did not induce bone formation (Coetzee 1980, Yamazaki et al . 1988, Sottosanti 1992a), and it seemed to stimulate osteogenesis when implanted in contact with bone or periosteum (Peltier et al . 1957, Beeson 1981, Mckee & Bailey 1984).…”
