PK is mainly caused by coryneform bacteria, although other bacteria have also been isolated such as the Kytococcus sedentarius, Actinomyces (8)(9)(10)(11)(12). These Gram-positive organisms produce proteolytic enzymes that digest the keratin, destroying the stratum corneum and creating typical multifocal crateriform pitting and elongated superficial erosions.…”
