“…If exposed to the shorter wavelength (4 W lamp) UV light for 1−5 min (after photo-cross-linking for 10 min), Gel-NC's absorption peak increased intensity by 1−5%. These results have been associated with photocleavage of hydrogel networks. , However, upon longer exposure times to 254 nm UV light, the peak intensity decreased further, became broader, and underwent a bathochromic shift of about 3 nm (Figure ).
5 UV−vis spectra of 0.07% w/v Gel-NC after 10 min of exposure to 365 nm UV light (solid lines) followed by 10 min of irradiation with 254 m UV light (dashed line).

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…The strain fixity R f increased with increasing content of BHECA moieties (Figure , left), confirming the hypothesis that light-induced cross-linking was responsible for fixing the deformation strain. It should be noted that the R f is lower than that of TSMPs , because of the mobility of the soft segments at the programming temperature even after light-induced cross-linking had occurred. However, the R f reported here was clearly improved in comparison with the nonbiodegradable LSMPs containing grafted photoresponsive groups previously reported .…”

“…Photocleavage of the cyclobutane ring is possible by irradiation at wavelengths λ < 260 nm. , Cinnamate and coumarin groups have been incorporated as functional components into many types of photosensitive macromolecules. They have been used primarily as light-induced reversible cross-linkers for in situ modification of hydrogel cross-link density or transient stabilization of micelles. , Shape memory elastomers that can switch between temporary and permanent geometries upon exposure to light also utilize reversible photodimerization of cinnamate and coumarin groups. ,, …”

“…Cinnamate functional groups have been conjugated with linear or branched polyethylene glycol to form hydrogels using light exposure with initiator-free systems. Multibranched PEG chains exhibit an advantage over linear PEG chains because branched PEG precursors can form hydrogel networks with lower light intensities and shorter irradiation time. The swelling ratio was studied as a function of the irradiation time.…”
