Photocatalytic properties of titanium dioxide (TiO2)

Abstract

This paper reviews the photocatalytic activity of Ti02 toward the degradation of organic compounds in aqueous solutions a t low concentrations. The photocatalytic activity of both polycrystalline samples and thin films can be related to the method of preparation of the catalyst. The increase in the catalytic activity of T i 0 2 when certain metals such as silver, gold, and palladium are deposited on the surface is also discussed.
