Phospholipase D2 (PLD2) and the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR): Identification of a Novel Relationship.

Abstract: Phospholipase D2 (PLD2) catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphatidylcholine to yield phosphatidic acid (PA), a lipid second messenger. PLD2 is postulated to play a role in enhancing tumorigenesis. EL4 cells, derived from a murine lymphoma, present a unique model to elucidate the role of PLD2 in signal transduction since these cells lack endogenous PLD2 mRNA and protein.
