Abstract:This work examines the thermodynamics of phenol extraction by cloud point varying the ethoxylation degrees of nonylphenolpoliethoxylate surfactants (NPEOn) (9.5, 10, 11 and 12). The Flory-Huggins model was applied to estimate enthalpy (ΔH mix) and entropy (ΔS mix) parameters of the mixture, as well as the aggregate number (N). Results show that ΔH mix and ΔS mix values have a direct relationship with the ethoxylation degree of the surfactant used. Differently, aggregate number (N) values have an inverse relati… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
