Persistent current in a correlated quantum ring with electron-phonon interaction in the presence of Rashba interaction and Aharonov-Bohm flux

Abstract: Persistent current in a correlated quantum ring threaded by an Aharonov-Bohm flux is studied in the presence of electron-phonon interactions and Rashba spin-orbit coupling. The quantum ring is modeled by the Holstein-Hubbard-Rashba Hamiltonian and the energy is calculated by performing the conventional Lang-Firsov transformation followed by the diagonalization of the effective Hamiltonian within a mean-field approximation. The effects of Aharonov-Bohm flux, temperature, spin-orbit and electron-phonon interacti… Show more

“…So the changes of magnitude and phase of persistent current with µ are small. This result is different from what is presented in [6] for similar quantum ring. The variation of persistent current I pc for different values of µ in the presence (α = 2) and absence (α = 0) of Rasba spin-orbit interaction is shown in Fig.…”

“…To compare these results to a single ring [6], they are similar in cases for E GS and I pc as a functions of the flux Φ for different α and differ considerably for the Drude weight function. The Drude weight as a function of flux Φ for different α in a single ring is a periodic function and the period changes with the change of α.…”

“…Semiconductor quantum rings (QRs) of nanometer size are, also, quasi‐zero‐dimensional structures producing total carrier confinement, as quantum dots (QDs) do. In addition, these nanostructures have the advantage of showing new properties resulting from their ring‐like shape, such as a persistent current through the Aharonov–Bohm effect, large and negative excitonic permanent dipole moments, high oscillator strength of the ground‐state transition…(further QR properties can be found, e.g., in Ref. where fundamentals of physics of QRs are presented and a number of contributions are discussed).…”
