Performance Analysis of System Architecture using Wireless Relay Station and Virtual MIMO in WiBro Uplink

Abstract: Introduction of Relay Station (RS) is unavoidable and wireless RS has gained more interest for next generation mobile communication systems including Wireless Broadband (WiBro) system. Also, Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) scheme is an emerging technology, offering high spectral efficiency. In this paper, we propose a system architecture applying Space Time Block Coding (STBC) algorithm in RS-Base Station (BS) link and Virtual MIMO (V-MIMO) scheme in Mobile Station (MS)-RS link based on WiBro network using wir… Show more

“…In this paper, we use WiBro network multimedia data sets of Seoul in Korea as the experimental data set (Han, et al, 2008). It is due to that WiBro network has some similarities with the vehicular networking based on IEEE 802.11p, such as both of them using wireless broadband networks, and belonging to mobile applications.…”

“…Besides, their average uplink bandwidth and downlink bandwidth reach about 5Mbps and 14Mbps respectively at the moving speed of 60 ~ 80km of nodes. Han et al (2008) collects multimedia data from cars and trains at high speed and their multimedia data types include VBR, CBR and VOIP data. And hence, it absolutely can simulate real network traffic data from vehicular networking environment.…”
