Objetivo: Analisar o perfil sociodemográfico e clínico dos pacientes no pós-operatório de confecção de estoma intestinal. Material e método: Estudo de abordagem quantitativa, descritiva, realizado no período de agosto a outubro de 2015, em um serviço filantrópico de referência em oncologia, localizado em Teresina, capital da província do Piauí, Brasil. Um questionário sociodemográfico, clínico e um exame físico com ênfase na avaliação do abdome e do estoma foram aplicados em 56 pacientes. Resultados: Perfil sociodemográfico: idade média de 57,75 anos, predominantemente mulheres (67,9%), do interior do Piauí (62,5%), residentes em áreas urbanas (69,6%), raça mulata (53,6%), religião católica (78,6%), com ensino fundamental incompleto (37,5%) e renda até um salário mínimo (67,9%). Perfil clínico: 42,9% tinham câncer de reto como diagnóstico médico, 85,7% tinham colostomia, em 76,8% a cirurgia era eletiva e não demarcada (57,1%), com equipamento coletor de 1 peça (51,8%), boa fixação da equipe de coleta (87,5%) e estoma com boa função (89,3%). Conclusão: A assistência ao estomizado deve estar embasada no conhecimento científico do processo de enfermagem e identificar as principais necessidades de cada paciente, de acordo com seus perfis sociodemográficos e clínicos.

RESUMO Objetivo: compreender a influência da rede social no cuidado de pessoas com estomia por câncer colorretal e descrever o tipo de apoio que a rede social oferece para essas pessoas. Método: trata-se de estudo qualitativo, decritivo, com 11 pessoas com câncer colorretal. Coletaram-se os dados por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, submetendo-os a técnica de Análise de Conteúdo. Utilizou-se o referencial teórico-metodológico de rede social de Sanicola. Resultados: observa-se que a rede social primária foi composta principalmente por filhos, irmãos, cônjuges e amigos, que ofereceram apoio emocional, material e cuidados. A rede social secundária, composta pelos profissionais de ambulatórios e hospitais, proporcionou acolhimento, orientações e suporte material. Revela-se a fragilidade das unidades de atenção primária à saúde para atender as demandas de cuidado. Conclusão: demostrou-se que a rede social exerce forte influência no cuidado à pessoa com estomia e ressalta-se a importância do apoio dos profissionais de todos os níveis de atenção à saúde na promoção de uma assistência integral, resolutiva e visando o autocuidado apoiado. It reveals the fragility of primary health care units to meet the demands of care. Conclusion: it was demonstrated that the social network exerts a strong influence on the care of the person with ostomy and the importance of the support of the professionals of all levels of attention to health in the promotion of integral assistance, resolutive and aiming at self-care supported. Objective: to describe the perceptions of people with intestinal ostomies on changes related to nutritional and lifestyle aspects. Method: exploratory and descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, performed with 17 patients with intestinal ostomies, who participate in a group of ostomized in a municipality in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed based on the thematic analysis from which two categories emerged: “Change in the eating habits and nutritional profile of people with ostomy” and “living with the new”. Results: many changes that occur with the ostomized people, with body weight preferences and eating habits. There are daily situations that require adaptation to be experienced, among them: domestic tasks, sexuality, sports, work and leisure activities. The subjects who use the irrigation method presented autonomy in their daily life and see the ostomy as a new possibility in the face of the disease. Conclusion: to minimize the repercussions that occur in the lifestyle of ostomized people, there is evidence of the need for individualized nutritional and psychological follow-up and of extension in the guidelines of the professional teams that work with them, as well as the dissemination of the irrigation method to people with ostomies who are able to perform such procedure.
