“…Investigaciones describen que en zonas residenciales de algunas ciudades, el ruido alcanza un promedio de 57,5 decibelios dB (Platzer M, Niguez C, Cevo E, & Ayalar R, 2007); en aulas escolares de Alemania 77 dB y en las aulas de Suecia 80 dB (Hear-it, 2014). Por otra parte, en algunas Unidades de Cuidado Intensivo Neonatal (UCIN), el promedios es de 59.9±4.8 dB, en Unidades de Cuidados Intermedios Neonatales (UCIREN) de 55.3±3.9 dB (Sanjuanero, 2012)y en Unidades Odontológicas de 68,1 dB (Fuentes L, Rubio M, & Cardemil M, 2013) El ruido no sólo produce perdida de la audición, también es considerado como uno de los factores que predisponen a la fatiga mental y física, que suelen reflejarse en tasas más elevadas de ausentismo y de inestabilidad del personal. Por otra parte, puede obstaculizar la comunicación, molestar, distraer, reducir el rendimiento y la eficacia, aumentar los niveles de colesterol y la glucosa, desencadenar alteraciones cardiovasculares y metabólicas que se manifiestan con aumentos de presión arterial y problemas del ritmo cardiaco (Organización Mundial de la salud,OMS, 1999) La importancia de este contaminante ambiental ha motivado a realizar numerosas investigaciones sobre este tema, permitiendo un mayor conocimiento y establecimiento de normas y recomendaciones.…”
