“…This agrees well with the results of the structural analysis [8]. Similar changes in the Raman spectra in LiB 3 O 5 crystals [10] were attributed to the shift of the Li atom and changes in its coordination to triangular (the first coordination sphere) on heating [11].…”

“…In the literature, it is known that the 400-2000 cm À1 region is enough to determine the structure of lithium borates, because many B-O clear intensive bands exist in this region. [7,15] Therefore, in the current study, the IR spectrum of lithium triborates was measured in the range of 400-2000 cm À1 by the KBr pellet method and using the VARIAN 1000 FTIR Spectrometer (Department of Chemistry, METU, Ankara, Turkey). The IR pellets were prepared using spectroscopic grade KBr with a KBr:sample ratio of 100 mg:3 mg.…”

“…Therefore, some lithium borate compounds like tetraborate (Li 2 B 4 O 7 ), pentaborate (LiB 5 O 8 ), and lithium octaborate (Li 2 B 8 O 13 ) can be present in the lithium triborate phase. [4][5][6][7][8] Two aims are accomplished in the current research: One aim is to investigate the different preparation methods, which included were high-temperature solid-state (HTS) reaction, microwave-assisted hightemperature solid-state (MAS) reaction, and precipitation-assisted high-temperature solid-state (PAS) reaction to produce LiB 3 O 5 as a single-phase powder. A literature survey showed that no studies have investigated the synthesis of LiB 3 O 5 by MAS, which has been used to synthesize lithium triborate for the first time in this research.…”

“…5,6 (3) The LiB 3 O 5 melt obtained by directly heating a LBO polycrystal to 860 °C is easier to crystallize than the same melt obtained by overheating to 935 °C and then cooling back to 860 °C. 7 Exploring the essence hidden behind the structural memory phenomena will help us to better understand the structural principles underlying borate molten salt chemistry and then to develop a more perfect growth technique to prepare larger LBO crystals of high quality. The knowledge of LiB 3 O 5 melt structures is believed to be the key to understand the special structural memory phenomena.…”

“…The knowledge of LiB 3 O 5 melt structures is believed to be the key to understand the special structural memory phenomena. In the past few years, several studies have been devoted to investigating LiB 3 O 5 melt structures; [5][6][7][8][9] however, the details of the melt structures remain unclear or debatable.…”
