Abstract:Este artigo se propõe a apresentar e discutir a natureza da destruição do patrimônio arqueológico no Oriente Médio, mais especialmente na Síria, praticada pelo Estado Islâmico. De como essas ações implicam na obliteração de uma determinada memória, em detrimento de outras e de como o patrimônio arqueológico está diretamente vinculado à noção de monumento enquanto memória.
