Abstract:hepatectomy is an extended resection which is known to be related to prolonged coagulopathy. Positioning of an epidural catheter for postoperative pain management may, therefore, not be appropriate. Intravenous administration of morphine through patient controlled analgesia (PCA) is usually preferred, at the expense of delayed recovery.
