Abstract: Background: Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a life threatening condition caused by inappropriate immune activity. Infection is often the trigger, both in genetically predisposed and in sporadic cases. Although more commonly seen in the paediatric population, patients of all ages can be affected.
