Abstract: I HAVE been working since March 1973 in the hospital wing of Brixton Prison on Thursday afternoons. For the rest of the week I work in a local probation office.The men I have seen in the hospital wing at Brixton have been exclusively men awaiting trial on charges of murder or manslaughter.Overall, I have found my work at Brixton to be more effective than my work as a probation officer outside.
