“…Radical surgery, in the form of total thyroidectomy, undertaken in this situation may cause unacceptable postoperative morbidity, such as hypothyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, or recurrent nerve palsy. Such a case has been reported by Assi et al (18) in which intraoperative examination of a lateral cervical mass disclosed thyroid tissue and a excision of the mass with total thyroidectomy was performed. This mass and the thyroid gland specimen were benign on histology (18).…”

This mass and the thyroid gland specimen were benign on histology (18). A histologie diagnosis to differentiate between follicular carcinoma and benign ectopic thyroid tissue should be made before any surgical procedure in such cases.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Parasitic thyroid nodules are defined as accessory thyroid tissue with no association with lymph nodes, they may or may not be still attached to the thyroid gland proper by a thin fibrous band (1) (2) (3). This is a rare diagnosis and our case is unusual with 24 nodules of functionally active hyperplastic thyroid tissue causing thyrotoxicosis, presenting 14 years after the original thyroid surgery.…”

“…In a recent article it was mentioned that a parasitic nodule may present as a carotid body tumour [1]. Clinicians should keep parasitic nodule of the thyroid in mind as a differential diagnosis in the case of a laterocercival mass.…”

“…No lymph node remnant should be found around the parasitic nodule [1]. Here we report a case of a parasitic nodule in a patient with Graves' disease mimicking a lymph node metastasis from a primary occult thyroid carcinoma.…”
