Parameters of Physiology, Nutrition and Quality of Eugenia dysenterica DC Seedlings Grown in Organic Substrates from the Agricultural Industry

Abstract: Residues from agricultural activities might be used as substrates for production of seedlings. In this study it was aimed to evaluate the physiology, nutrition and quality of Eugenia dysenterica DC. seedlings grown in substrates derived from agricultural organic wastes. The wastes used were as follows: rice husks (RHs); fermented cattle manure (FCM); cattle manure compost (CMC), which contained corn silage and FCM; sugarcane bagasse (SCB); filter cake from sugar-alcohol mills (FC); and subsoil (SB). Four subst… Show more

“…Moreover, the value for Trimix ® was 159.4 kg m -3 (Mota et al, 2018), while for Trimix and Bioplant they were between 150 and 200 kg m -3 (Braga et al, 2019). Lastly, the values for tropstrato ® and vivatto ® were 325.76 kg m -3 and 360.77 kg m -3 , respectively (Neres et al, 2019).…”

“…Os resíduos provenientes de origem animal ou vegetal podem favorecer ou prejudicar o desenvolvimento das plantas e, por este motivo há um crescente aumento nas pesquisas relacionadas ao uso desses materiais (Olari et al, 2016;Mota et al, 2018).…”

“…Since there is a high cost involved in the use of the commercial substrates, there is need to explore other alternatives like agricultural residues that can be processed to substitute the commercial substrates or used as a complement. (Almeida al., 2017;Berrili et al, 2015;Berilli et al, 2018a;Mota et al, 2018;Chagas et al, 2019). This alternative reduces the seedling production costs, and also generates greater sustainability of agricultural and industrial activities that generate waste, which are often discarded in landfills or improper areas, causing degradation to the environment (Alves & Barbosa, 2013).…”
