“…Regarding laboratory studies, recent immunohistochemical studies have suggested the use of single antibodies such as ki‐ 67, Ber‐EP4, CD34,CK 20, Bcl2 and AR to differentiate BCC from BFH. Hence, the results are not standardized 11–16 . We believe that the use of an immunohistochemical panel including Ber‐EP4, CD34 and Bcl2 and AR, could be useful in the differential diagnosis of adnexal neoplasms, BCC and mimickers, especially in small biopsies where the evaluation of all histological criteria could be limited 17 .…”

“…Hence, the results are not standardized. 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 We believe that the use of an immunohistochemical panel including Ber‐EP4, CD34 and Bcl2 and AR, could be useful in the differential diagnosis of adnexal neoplasms, BCC and mimickers, especially in small biopsies where the evaluation of all histological criteria could be limited. 17 In particular, our study proved that the two antibodies with notable differences between BFH and BCC were Bcl2 and CD34.…”

“…Despite previous reports of patients presenting similar skeletal, dermatologic and orofacial anomalies, only in 1960, Gorlin and Goltz defined three parameters (the classical triad), which determined the recognition of the disease as a distinct entity: multiple nevoid basal‐cell epitheliomas, keratocysts in the jaws and bifid ribs . At that time, those authors called it the “multiple nevoid basal‐cell epithelioma, jaw cysts and bifid rib syndrome,” but several names have been given to this syndrome since then, such as: “Gorlin‐Goltz syndrome (GGS),” “nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome,” and “basal‐cell nevus syndrome.”…”

“…1,2 The presentation of BCC on acral sites has been related to predisposing factors such as Gorlin-Goltz Syndrome (GGS), trauma, scar, radiation or intake of carcinogens such as arsenic. 3 …”

“…Cabo et al 3 reported the dermoscopy of a nodular BCC in the palm of a Gorlin Goltz patient in contiguity with volar pits. They suggested that volar are predisposed to develop BCC instead of being initial forms of BCC since volar pits are more frequently found than volar BCC in Gorlin-Goltz syndrome.…”
