Overexpression of AmRosea1 Gene Confers Drought and Salt Tolerance in Rice

Abstract: Ectopic expression of the MYB transcription factor of AmROSEA1 from Antirrhinum majus has been reported to change anthocyanin and other metabolites in several species. In this study, we found that overexpression of AmRosea1 significantly improved the tolerance of transgenic rice to drought and salinity stress. Transcriptome analysis revealed that a considerable amount of stress-related genes were affected by exogenous AmRosea1 during both drought and salinity stress treatments. These affected genes are involve… Show more

“…The expression of many MYB genes responds to salt stress, for instance, overexpression of AtMYB20 increased salt stress resistance in transgenic A. thaliana, while the repression lines were more susceptible to NaCl than the wild type (WT) (Cui et al, 2013). Overexpression of MYB TF of AmRosea1 markedly enhanced the resistance of transgenic O. sativa to drought and salt stress (Dou et al, 2016). Numerous MYB genes are induced or repressed in response to salt stress and are related to the salt response of plants (Wang et al, 2021c).…”
