“…In their meta-analysis, Mu et al demonstrated that pre-TBI statin use was linked to a lower risk of mortality in TBI individuals compared to nonusers. 3 Lokhandwala et al revealed that pre-TBI usage of statins had a decreased in-hospital mortality rate, skilled nursing facility disposition, and a higher median GOS-extended. 6 Schneider et al researched the association between pre-TBI statin use survival and functional recovery in older moderate to severe TBI individuals, revealed that statin usage was related to a 76% reduced adjusted risk of in-hospital death, 76.7% of those discharged alive survived 1 year, and 66.8% had full GOS-extended, additionally, statin users had a 13% greater chance of excellent recovery 12 months after injury.…”
