Abstract: One of the main challenges of the microgrid (MG) operation in autonomous mode is the uncertain output due to the fluctuating nature of renewable energy resources (RES). This study investigates the effects of RES uncertainties to the oscillatory stability of a hybrid MG in islanded operation. A comprehensive model of Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS), a two-stage Photovoltaic (PV) and bio-diesel engine (BDE) based distributed generation (DG) units are considered to capture a complete dynamic response of the … Show more

“…1 (47) If the cross-coupling terms are small as assumed in Section 2.2.2 then we have two different sensitivity functions as given in Equation (37). In this specific case, the stability of the system can be inferred by requiring that both of the impedance-ratio-based minor-loop gains satisfy Nyquist stability criterion [13].…”

“…The origin of the stability problems in grid-connected systems is usually the negativeincremental-resistor-like behavior at the input or output impedance of the three-phase converter [29][30][31] similarly as in DC-DC converters discussed in References [1,2]. In three-phase converters, the negative-incremental-resistor-like behavior is either the consequence of the grid synchronization [29][30][31][32][33][34][35] or the feedback control from the output-terminal variables [36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43]. In case of grid synchronization, the instability can be mitigated in some extends by lowering the control bandwidth of the phase locked loop (PLL) adaptively when the grid impedance is increasing as discussed in Reference [44].…”

“…Global oscillation (inter-area mode) is related with generator unit in one area against generating units in another area, with typical frequency oscillation ranging from 0.1-0.7 Hz. Small signal stability analysis can be easily investigate through state space representation as given in (5) and (6) by linearizing equation (3) and (4) [23][24][25].…”
