“…Good SRH (72.2%) was lower when compared with adolescents from other regions of Brazil (de Sousa et al, 2010; Meireles et al, 2015; Mendonça & Farias Júnior, 2013), Spain (Galán et al, 2013), the Czech Republic (Hodačová et al, 2017), Greenland and Norway (Spein et al, 2013). “…Understanding lifestyle, social and environmental factors that affect perceptions of health may help to define relevant elements of the complex system involved in this health indicator (Dahlgren & Whitehead, 1991; Sucupira et al, 2014). For instance, SRH has been associated with individual behavioural factors, such as low levels of physical activity (Zhang et al, 2020), smoking, alcohol abuse and illicit drug use (de Sousa et al, 2010; Loch & Possamai, 2007), as well as status of the body mass index (BMI) (Mendonça & Farias Júnior, 2013) and socio‐economic factors (e.g. schooling) (Mendonça & Farias Júnior, 2013).…”

“…As práticas de educação em saúde têm como finalidade despertar no discente a identificação com o meio em que se vive, assim como a consciência crítica sobre os problemas de saúde e a relatividade que os determinam, tanto num contexto de sociedade coletiva quanto num patamar a nível de individuo (Mendonça et al, 2019). É importante ressaltar que o papel educativo exercido por professores e demais atores da comunidade escolar complementa a educação recebida pela família.…”

“…Economic and sociodemographic changes, together with the link with the health of Brazilians, especially those defined by inequalities, have been the focus of discussions, as well as health promotion and prevention models and the relationship with their determinants [13,14], assisting in a more accurate assessment of the performance of physical activity among a given population [15]. Associated with several NCDs and premature mortality, the insufficiency of physical activity is responsible not only for a negative impact on the mental health and quality of life of the subjects but is also responsible for high economic expenses [16].…”
