Abstract: Analisa os relatórios das duas viagens científicas do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz à Amazônia, realizadas em 1910 e 1913, sob a liderança respectivamente de Oswaldo Cruz e Carlos Chagas. Os relatórios colaboraram na construção de representações e imagens sobre a região. As observações de campo, além de trazerem questões para o estudo e controle das doenças tropicais, inserem-se no movimento de denúncia das graves condições sanitárias dos trabalhadores da borracha.
