Abstract: Gas cyclic pressure pulsing is an effective IOR method specifically for naturally fractured reservoirs. Due to the computational cost of simulating a large number of scenarios, it is an arduous task to determine the optimum operational conditions for the process. In this study, a practical screening and optimization workflow is utilized to determine the most optimum operating conditions for cyclic pressure pulsing applications with N2 and CO2 in a fully-depleted reservoir. Two huff 'n' puff design schemes with… Show more

“…The stripper oil well production is currently from the Keefer sandstone. 25 Using the reservoir model developed for the Big Andy Field, performance of a cycle of CO 2 or N 2 injection is analyzed. 23 During 1985, cyclic gas injection testing was initiated using CO 2 .…”

“…Moreover, advanced models are developed to study enhanced oil recovery projects. For example, radial cylindrical reservoir models have been employed to develop universal ANN models for cyclic gas injection [37] and cyclic steam injection processes [38]. Proxy models are also developed as qualitative screen tools for steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) process, which utilizes two horizontal wells to develop heavy oil reservoirs [39].…”

“…In many cases most of the oil in these reservoirs is held in the matrix blocks of very low permeabilities usually less than 20 mD. More recently published papers on cyclic pressure pulsing in fractured reservoirs have focused more on the single well process of huff 'n' puff with CO2 or N2 injection [4], [5]. This permeability contrast makes flooding these reservoirs very inefficient as the displacing fluid (water or gas) by passes the oil that is held in the matrix.…”
