Optimization of Wire-EDM Process Parameters on Machining Die Steel DC53 using Taguchi Method with Grey Relational Analysis – A Review

Abstract

Unconventional machining processes are used where traditional machining processes are unable to meet the necessary requirements efficiently and economically. Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) is one such machi:ning process. It is widely used in machining of conductive materials when precision is of primary significance. This paper presents the literature review of previous work done by researchers on WEDM for optimization using different techniques like improving performance characteristics, optimizing process variables, monitoring and controlling the sparking process, simplifying the wire design and improving spark efficiency.
