Optimization and development of antidiabetic phytosomes by the Box–Behnken design

Abstract: Researchers have extensively reviewed on herbs and natural products for their marked clinical efficacy in some recent years, however, maximum of the newly discovered bioactive constituents offer poor bioavailability due to their large size molecules or to their poor miscibility with oils and lipids, thereby limiting their ability to pass across the lipid-rich outer membranes of the enterocytes of the small intestine. Phytosomes are more bioavailable as compared to herbal extracts owing to their enhanced capaci… Show more

“…In comparison with the other spectra, marked changes were observed in EAPC, which confirmed the successful formation of Fungisome. The results were in accordance with the IR spectra of previously reported phytosomes (Karthivashan et al., 2016; El‐Fattah et al., 2017; Rathee & Kamboj, 2018; Telange et al., 2017).…”

“…Out of this box-behnken design has been mainly used to study the effect of 3 factors at 3 levels [18,19]. In this design quadratic equation is generated for evaluating the mathematical relationship between independent and dependent variables to study the effect of the independent variable on the independent variable [20]. 3dimensional response curves and 2-dimensional contour plots help in studying the response of 2 factors, including their interaction effect keeping other factors constant [17,21].…”

“…Because of their solubility in lipids and water, these phospholipids act as the surfactant/ emulsifier. Due to the presence of emulsifiers, phospholipids combine with plant extract, which ultimately enhances the bioavailability of lipophilic drugs 36,37,38 . Preparation of Phytosomes includes two steps and that are 1.…”
