Abstract: Abstract The 4‐Hydroxy‐2,6‐dioxabicyclo(3,3,0)Octan‐8‐one[1S,4S,5R], monoketone, is obtained by catalytic oxidation of isosorbide—or 2,6‐dioxabicyclo(3,3,0)4,8‐octandiol[1R,4S,5R,8R]—in an aqueous solution with a stream of oxygen and in the presence of a platinum on carbon catalyst.
