Abstract: This work presents the latest results on open heavy-flavour production in protonproton, proton-lead, lead-lead and xenon-xenon collisions from the ALICE, ATLAS, CMS and LHCb Collaborations at the LHC. Physics MotivationThe production of heavy-flavour hadrons (those containing charm or beauty quarks) is one of the key probes of the colour-deconfined and strongly interacting state of matter, the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) that is formed in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions [1]. Due to their large masses with … Show more

“…The results on D meson production are in agreement (within factor 2) with pQCD calculations performed FNOLL, PYTHIA of POWHEG. Nuclear modification factors for charm mesons, identified by their hadronic decay channels, have been recently also measured at LHC in P b + P b collisions by ALICE [136] (for recent overview of LHC results on heavy flavour see [137] , ). An analysis of dilepton emission in Au-Au collisions at √ s NN 200 based on STAR data obtained with the Heavy Flavor Tracker (HFT) has been ongoing at the time this review was written.…”
