Onset of triaxial deformation in Zn66 and properties of its first excited 0+ state studied by means of Coulomb excitation

Abstract: HAL is a multi-disciplinary open access archive for the deposit and dissemination of scientific research documents, whether they are published or not. The documents may come from teaching and research institutions in France or abroad, or from public or private research centers. L'archive ouverte pluridisciplinaire HAL, est destinée au dépôt et à la diffusion de documents scientifiques de niveau recherche, publiés ou non, émanant des établissements d'enseignement et de recherche français ou étrangers, des labor… Show more

“…The first hints of the intruder character of the 0 + 2 states in the Zn isotopes came from E0 measurements in the stable even-even [64][65][66][67][68] Zn isotopes [27], a feature further supported by the results of multi-step Coulomb-excitation experiments on 66,68 Zn [14,28]. However, only for 68 Zn has the key 2 + 3 E2 0 + 2 matrix element been determined, which, when combined with other matrix elements involving the 0 + 2 state, leads to a Q 2 invariant significantly different from that of the ground state [28].…”

“…While theoretical approaches can, in principle, provide a complete set of electromagnetic matrix elements, this is not always true for experiments. Systematic studies employing the Shell Model addressed this convergence issue [13][14][15]. The contributions of individual products of matrix elements to the experimentally determined invariants have also been analysed in some cases [14,[16][17][18].…”

“…In particular, the Q 3 cos 3δ invariant is typically amounts to well over 90% of the total. Similarly, the largest contributions to 157 Q 3 cos 3δ for the ground state come from the 0 vergence issue [14][15][16]. The contributions of individual products of matrix elements to the 164 experimentally determined invariants have also been analysed in some cases [15,[17][18][19].…”
