Abstract: A critical comparison is made of different methods to obtain the mobility in linear electron transport theory. An approximation to the Kubo formula is studied, a calculation based on the displaced Maxwellian distribution function, and a method introduced in path integral calculations. It is shown that the three methods are equivalent: they lead to the same resistance in the weak scattering limit, for small electric fields.
