On the Diversity and Availability of Temporal Information in Linked Open Data

Abstract: An increasing amount of data is published and consumed on the Web according to the Linked Data paradigm. In consideration of both publishers and consumers, the temporal dimension of data is important. In this paper we investigate the characterisation and availability of temporal information in Linked Data at large scale. Based on an abstract definition of temporal information we conduct experiments to evaluate the availability of such information using the data from the 2011 Billion Triple Challenge (BTC) data… Show more

“…We see it as a metadata applied to a triple through its predicate. Therefore, we provide a model for the representation of uncertainty by adapting the ''reification'' method described in [30] and originally targeted at time-stamping temporal triples. For a more compact representation, we also integrate the RDF concept of ''blank nodes'', also known as ''anonymous resources'' [31].…”

“…This is partly due to the sophisticated meta-modeling strategies needed to represent temporal annotations in RDF [18]. As a consequence, several knowledge bases contain volatile facts without explicitly annotating the triples with information about their temporal scope.…”
