On modeling system-centric information for role engineering

Abstract: In this paper we present an approach to modeling systemcentric information in order to facilitate role engineering (RE). In particular, we first discuss the general characteristics of the information required in RE. Afterwards, we discuss two informational flow types among authorities involved in RE process, forward information flow (FIF) and backward information flow (BIF), together with the introduction of an information model which is greatly suitable for use in the backward information flow. System-centric… Show more

“…Role development can be carried out hybrid or non-hybrid. Several publications explicitly mention that a hybrid combination of Role Engineering and Role Mining is necessary to define a good collection of roles ( [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], and [12]). However, although considered to be the most promising way for developing roles on a company-wide level, no such hybrid RDM has been published up to now.…”

“…In the top-down approach, the roles are defined from business perspective. Several research works [5], [6] , [7] have focused on the topdown approach. However, according to the NIST report, this approach is costly and time-consuming process [8].…”
