The impact of technology on educational domains has been a subject of research for many years. Therefore, understanding how students perceive and utilize technologies for educational purposes is crucial. Especially in a critical subject like anatomy education, it is essential to employ various models to determine students' technology acceptance and usage levels. One of these models is the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology‐2 (UTAUT2). In this study, the acceptance and usage levels of metaverse technology by students in the context of anatomy education in the metaverse environment have been investigated within the framework of the UTAUT2 model. The study was conducted with students from the Department of Midwifery at the Faculty of Health Sciences during the fall semester of the 2022–2023 academic year. After 6 weeks of anatomy education in the metaverse environment, the student's acceptance and usage levels of metaverse technology were assessed using the UTAUT2 scale. The collected data were analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modeling method. The research has revealed the technology acceptance and usage levels of students who utilized metaverse technology in anatomy education. According to the obtained results, it has been observed that social influence affects behavioral intention, facilitating conditions influence behavioral intention, and habit variable affects behavioral intention, while habit, in turn, influences usage. Other variables explain behavioral intention with a proportion of 75.30%, whereas other variables explain usage behavior with 54.90%. Upon analyzing the responses to the UTAUT2 scale, it has been concluded that there is the highest level of participation in hedonic motivation. In contrast, the habit variable has the lowest participation level. The findings of this study have enabled the identification of the impacts of metaverse technologies on anatomy and health education. These results will likely contribute to improving the utilization of metaverse technologies in anatomy and health education.

AMAÇ: Araştırma, sağlık hizmetleri meslek yüksekokulunda farklı programlarda öğrenim gören öğrencilerin “Anatomi” kavramına ilişkin algılarını metafor yoluyla belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Araştırmanın evrenini ve örneklemini Üniversitemiz Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulu (SHMYO) öğrencileri oluşturmuştur. Araştırma, metafor analizi tekniği ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. SHMYO’unda bulunan 300 öğrencinin 215’i çalışmaya katılmak için gönüllü olmuştur. 20 öğrencinin cevapları anlamlı bir metafor içermediği veya herhangi bir metafor üretmediği için 195 öğrencinin metaforları değerlendirilmiştir. Veriler, Ocak-Şubat 2022 tarihleri arasında öğrencilerin demografik bilgilerini soran kısa anket soruları ile “Anatomi … gibidir. Çünkü…” metafor cümlesinin tamamlanmasıyla toplanmıştır. BULGULAR: Çalışmamızda bazı programlardaki öğrencilerden fazla katılım sağlanamadığı için programlar arasında karşılaştırma yapılamamıştır. Fizik Tedavi ve Rehabilitasyon Programı’nda 2. sınıf öğrencileri de anket çalışmasına katıldığı için bu bölümde olumlu metaforlar daha çok üretilmiştir. 2.sınıf öğrencileri 1.sınıf öğrencilerine göre anatomi hakkında daha olumlu düşüncelere sahiptir. SONUÇ: Anatomi sağlık profesyonelleri için en önemli bilim dallarından biri olması nedeniyle SHMYO öğrencilerinin konuya ilişkin algıları oldukça önemlidir. Anatomi’nin ışığa, haritaya benzetilmesi derse ilişkin farkındalıklarını gösterirken; okyanus, dipsiz kuyu ve çöle benzetilmesi de anatomiyi öğrenmedeki çaresizliklerini ifade eden çarpıcı örneklerdir.

Aim: Anatomy is the basis for the professional education of nursing and paramedic students. This study was conducted to determine nursing and paramedic students' attitudes towards the anatomy courseproviding through distance learning system and self-efficacy perceptions towards online technologies. Methods: This study, which was a cross-sectional study, was conducted at Bartin University between February 25, 2021 and March 01, 2021, following the end of the 2020-2021 Academic Year, FallSemester. A total of 245 students participated in the study and the participation rate was 65%. A Descriptive Information Form, Anatomy Attitude Scale and the Online Technologies Self-Efficacy Scalewere used to collect the data. Results: Almost half of the participants were nursing students and 69.60% of them were women. Majority of students stated that course content was sufficient. Over the half of the participants stated that theoretical course hours and the laboratory hours were sufficient. A quarter of of the students demands more visual material to be used during the lessons. The content of anatomy and studying methodaffected students' attitudes towards anatomy courses. Additionally, studying method of anatomy affected the perception of self-efficacy towards online technologies. A weak but significant relationship was found between the Attitude Scale Towards Anatomy Course and the Self-Efficacy Scale Towards Online Technologies.Conclusions: As a result of the present study, it has been revealed that adapting the content of anatomy course and learning methods to the distance learning and increasing the technological competence ofnursing and paramedic students is important to make the anatomy course interesting and increase the learning levels of the students. In future studies, it is recommended to develop and test new teachingmethods to improve students' competencies for online technologies, as well as their positive attitudes towards the anatomy course providing through distance learning system.
