Arachidonic acid facilitates experimental chronic osteomyelitis in rats

“…These experiments demonstrated that in this model of tibial osteomyelitis in rats, small doses of arachidonic acid are as effective as much higher doses of sodium morrhuate in facilitating infection. Specifically, 5 ,ul of 5% (wt/vol) sodium morrhuate delivered 250 ,ug to each tibia, whereas a quantitatively similar infection was produced by 1,000-fold less arachidonic acid.…”
