Show more

“…According to ADAMS et al (1993), intensive rearing favors horizontal disease transmission, as there are high stocking rates in feedlots, in addition to the use of collective milk bottles. Probably, due to other equally important factors, the data obtained in the present study were not as high as the results observed in other studies, such as the findings by EISTEN et al (1999) in Argentina (18%) and by AZEVEDO et al (2004) in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (11.3%).…”

“…Lower results were also recorded by Silva et al (2009) in Bahia (BA), Rizzo et al (2009) In 43.75% of the properties studied, there was no presence of animals that were reagent in AGID for Brucella ovis. Similar situation was also found by Salaberry et al (2011) in Uberlândia (MG) and Marinho et al (2012), in the northwestern region of the state of São Paulo (SP).…”

“…The microscopic agglutination test (MAT), was performed against the following 24 lepstopira serovars: Australis, Bratislava, Autumnalis Castellonis, Bataviae, Canicola, Whitcombi, Cynopteri, Sentot, Grippotyphosa, Hebdomadis, Icterohaemorrhagiae, Copenhagen, Javanica, Panama, Pomona, Pyrogenes, Patoc, Hardjo (Hardjoprajitno), Hardjo (Hardjobovis), Wolffi, Shermani, and Tarassovi [6]. Seroreactivity against B. ovis was analysed by complement fixation [21], and against T. gondii and N. caninum was by indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA), it was considered a cutoff point of 1:50 for T. gondii [5] and 1:64 for N. caninum [3]. The bacterial isolation of Campylobacter sp.…”
