Occurrence of cardiovascular complications associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection: a systematic review

Abstract: The Cardiovascular Diseases represent the main cause of death in the world, and are associated as risk factors that cause serious complications in cases of infections, such as those of the respiratory tract. In March 2020 the World Health Organization declared a pandemic for SARS-CoV-2, a new coronavirus causing severe pneumonia, which emerged in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. The objective is to investigate the occurrence of cardiovascular complications associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. It is a systematic… Show more

“…Incidence of arrythmias ranged from 1.8% to 26% in hospitalized COVID-19 patients [ 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 ], while an incidence of 33% to 48% was reported in severe disease [ 21 25 26 29 30 ]. Newly occurring arrhythmias in COVID-19 patients predicted severe disease and/or mortality [ 21 25 30 31 32 33 34 ].…”

“…Newly occurring arrhythmias in COVID-19 patients predicted severe disease and/or mortality [ 21 25 30 31 32 33 34 ]. The most reported arrhythmias were ventricular arrhythmias (ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation) [ 24 29 ], and atrial arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter) [ 24 27 29 ].…”
