Abstract:Thrombosis of the portomesenteric veins is an uncommon condition that can lead to serious complications, if left untreated. Bariatric reduction surgeries increase the probability for occurrence of this rare condition. This case study focuses on a patient who underwent a biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch procedure and consequently developed an occlusive thrombus in the superior mesenteric vein (SMV), which required stent placement.
