Abstract-The measurement of call quality from end users perspective is emerging area of research on speech quality in telecommunication networks. Our idea is focused at deriving and developing a system to measure certain call parameters during the call and provide average scores at the end of the call. Call quality for the bundle of calls is derived based on the aggregation of successful call parameters which gives the overall call quality measure. The call parameters used in our research were Signal Strength, the successful call rate, normal drop call rate, handover drop rate. GPS coordinates are also used to locate the location and quality of the individual calls. Also a model using the sms feature for tackling the critical quality has been proposed and implemented. Finally the basic bandwidth quality measurement approach is presented which addresses the issue of low bandwidth quality with respect to both user and the operator.Index Terms-Call quality measurement, signal strength, successful call rate, normal drop call rate, handover drop rate, lac(location area code), bandwidth quality.

Voice communication in IEEE802.15.4 networks is an attractive application for the emergency management support when a disaster occurs. Although this application can be of extreme utility in the immediate consequence of the disaster, it must take into account the bandwidth limitations of the IEEE802.15.4 standard, which allows the simultaneous transmission of a small number of voice streams. When more voice streams must be transmitted through the network, a bandwidth reduction of each speech flow must be performed. In this paper we first present an algorithm for the perceptual selection of voice data aiming at reducing the speech flow bandwidth while preserving as much as possible the end-to-end speech quality, then we propose a voice data protection technique based on speech perceptual importance and able to preserve speech quality against packet losses. The perceptual selection algorithm can reach a 30.8% reduction in bandwidth occupancy, with respect to a full rate voice communication, still maintaining an end-to-end speech quality between good and fair according to the Mean Opinion Score scale defined by the International Telecommunications Union. The protection technique, jointly adopted with the perceptual selection, can reach better end-to-end speech quality values with respect to a full rate voice communication while requiring a lower amount of transmission bandwidth.

Abstract-In this paper, we present an optimization framework for transmitting high quality audio sequences over error-prone wireless links. Our framework introduces apparatus and technique to optimally protect a stored audio sequence transmitted over a wireless link while considering the packetization overhead of audio frames. Utilizing rate compatible punctured RS codes and dynamic programming, it identifies the optimal assignment of parity to audio frames according to their perceptual importance such that the Segmented SNR of the received audio sequence is maximized. Our framework covers two cases. In the first case, a frame grouping technique is proposed to packetize audio frames and protect them against temporarily correlated bit errors introduced by a fading wireless channel. In this case, each packet is treated as a channel coding codeword. In the second case, a one-dimensional RS coder is applied vertically to a sequence of horizontally formed packets associated with an audio sequence in order to protect the sequence against both bit errors introduced by fading wireless channels and packet erasures introduced by network buffering. Our numerical results capture the performance advantage of our framework compared to existing techniques proposed in the literature of audio transmission. We also note that our framework can be generically applied to a variety of audio coders making it attractive in terms of implementation.
