Abstract: The complexity and scope of software systems continues to grow. One approach to dealing with this growing complexity is the use of intelligent, multi-agent systems. However, due in part to its relative infancy when compared to other software paradigms, the use of multi-agent systems has yet to be used extensively in industry. One reason is the lack of industrial strength methods and tools to support multi-agent development. This paper presents the organisation-based multi-agent software engineering (O-MaSE) me… Show more

“…Beyond the complexity of the task, a bad selection of the structure of the organization can be critical for the success of the system (Horling and Lesser 2004a). Some MAS methodologies provide specific guidelines (Argente et al 2009, DeLoach andGarcia-Ojeda 2010). The social structure and coordination are usually represented in agent approaches by means of roles and structured organizations.…”

“…O-MaSE [23] provides a customisable agent-oriented methodology based on a metamodel, a set of methods fragments and a set of method construction guidelines. It also offers a CASE tool [24].…”

“…Over the last decade, multi-agent technology has been used for the implementation of academic and industrial applications, and there are currently several agent methodologies that deal with the development of normative sys-tems [23,26]. In this paper, we wish to answer the following question: To what extent do agent methodologies support the development of normative systems?.…”

“…In the first category, existing agentoriented software development methodologies for MAS are extended to meet the requirements of developing AMAS, such as Gaia [5], O-MaSE [6], ADELET [2] and SOTA [7]. These methodologies, however, provide neither language facilities for expressing designs of adaption at component level and system level, nor techniques for evaluating the designs.…”
