Nutritional mutualisms of Nepenthes and Roridula

Abstract: Carnivorous plants typically kill, digest, and sequester nutrients from their animal prey. However, the relationship between some carnivorous taxa and animals is mutualistic rather than exploitative. In this chapter, the evidence for mutualism with animals is presented for members of two carnivorous genera, Roridula and Nepenthes. Avenues for future research are outlined.
