RESUMoObjetivo: o consumo de bebidas alcoólicas entre os estudantes universitários tem se tornado uma preocupação crescente nos últi-mos anos, por isso este estudo foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de identificar o consumo dessa substância psicoativa entre estudantes de enfermagem. Método: trata-se de estudo epidemiológico descritivo do tipo transversal desenvolvido em uma universidade privada da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, com 161 estudantes que responderam a um questionário autoaplicável que continha informações sociodemográficas, perguntas selecionadas do Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test e outras sobre aspectos relacionados ao consumo de bebidas alcoólicas. Resultados: alta proporção (67,7%) dos estudantes de enfermagem entrevistados referiu ser consumidora de bebida alcoólica, sendo que 32,1% deles faziam consumo no padrão binge, e quase metade (45,9%) dos consumidores estava exposta ao risco de desenvolvimento de problemas relacionados ao consumo dessa substância. São preocupantes as informações sobre o consumo de bebidas alcoólicas dos estudantes de enfermagem participantes desse estudo, já que eles são futuros profissionais que, inevitavelmente, atuarão como educadores e motivadores para a adoção de condutas saudáveis pela população. Conclusão: portanto, são necessárias políticas e programas de prevenção ao consumo excessivo de álcool para este segmento populacional.
