The oscillations of the vacuum angle 8 due to a cosmological axion field will induce oscillating electric dipoles onto nuclei. We discuss the observability of the resulting nuclear dipole radiation. The a~i o n ' ,~ is generally thought to be the most attractive solution to the strong CP problem. Nevertheless, no positive hint for its existence has been obtained so far. The many experiments carried out during the last decade essentially rule out the so-called visible-axion models including the Peccei-Quinn-Wei…
scite is a Brooklyn-based startup that helps researchers better discover and evaluate scientific articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by researchers from dozens of countries and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
