Novel non-mulberry silk fibroin nanoparticles with enhanced activity as potential candidate in nanocarrier mediated delivery system

Abstract: Silk fibroin (SF) is well known for its excellent biocompatible properties facilitating its application in the field of biomedical engineering through different biomaterial fabrications in the recent era. Here in this study, novel nanoparticles from non-mulberry SF of Antheraea assamensis were fabricated, characterized and evaluated for its applicability as nanocarrier. Fabricated nanoparticles were initially compared with prevailing SF nanoparticles from Bombyx mori. Fabricated A. assamensis silk fibroin nano… Show more

“…Although there are many directions and controversies on the pathological mechanism of cholesteatoma, no theory can completely explain all the clinical features of cholesteatoma [ 3 , 4 ]. Because cholesteatoma also has many tumor-like characteristics, including abnormal proliferation, migration and invasion, the expression of miRNAs in cholesteatoma may change [ 5 , 6 ]. MiRNAs are involved in a series of life processes such as cell proliferation and apoptosis and has a very wide range of biological functions.…”

“…Dissolution represents the most common method for obtaining silk fi broin particles. It is based on the reduction of the silk fi broin chain solubility in the presence of organic solvents such as acetone, ethanol, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and methanol, leading to phase separation [69,70]. Salting out is another approach employed for the production of silk fi broin [53].…”

“…Another natural polymer with a number of properties useful in regenerative medicine is silk fibroin, a natural protein obtained from the domestic silkworm Antheraea mylitta (A. mylitta). It is biocompatible, biodegradable, and has remarkable mechanical strength, low immunogenicity, gas permeability, hemostatic and anti-inflammatory properties [13]. In addition, one of the important physical properties is the formation of gels that can be easily attached to the skin independent of biological adhesives [14].…”
