Novel fabrication of SiO2/Ag nanocomposite by gamma irradiated Fusarium oxysporum to combat Ralstonia solanacearum

Abstract: The bacterial wilt is a global destructive plant disease that initiated by the phytopathogenic Ralstonia solanacearum. This study display a novel biofabrication of silica/silver nanocomposite using Fusarium oxysporum-fermented rice husk (RH) under solid state fermentation (SSF). The biofabricated nanocomposite was characterized by XRD, UV–Vis. spectroscopy, DLS, SEM, EDX elemental mapping, and TEM analyses as well as investigated for anti-R. solanacearum activity. Response surface methodology was also processe… Show more

“…This prevented an impact on other bacteria from the environment, which is necessary for a safe biocontrol agent (Buttimer et al, 2017). The bacteriophage specificity to different strains of R. solanacearum was investigated in studies from Japan and Spain (Biosca et al, 2019;Zaki et al, 2022b). This specificity might be explained by the fact that the host range of bacteriophages is restricted to particular bacterial populations with whom they have co-evolved.…”

“…Response surface methodology, including central composite and Box–Behnken, is a statistical modelling tool for estimating the behaviour of process parameters and understanding their interactions on the investigated response (process output) (El‐Sayed & Zaki, 2022; Saeed et al, 2020, 2021; Zaki et al, 2019, 2021, 2022; Zaki & El‐Sayed, 2021) Thus, RSM is an efficient methodology for improving and optimizing bioprocesses. In literature, Ahmady‐Asbchin (2016) proved the efficiency of the Box–Behnken model of RSM using Design‐Expert software to optimize Cd +2 biosorption on Pseudomonas aeruginosa with a maximum capacity of 0.56 mmol g −1 .…”

“…The diffracted X-rays' intensity was calculated as diffracted angle 2θ (El-Batal et al 2020). The most prevailing Se NPs particle size distribution, hydrodynamic radius, and polydispersity index (PDI) were determined by Dynamic Light Scattering (Zaki et al 2022) (DLS-PSS-NICOMP 380-USA). Further, the mean particle size, the microstructure, and the estimated shape of the biosynthesized Se NPs were assessed by High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscope (HRTEM, JEM2100, Jeol, Japan) (Ashour et al 2018).…”
