Abstract: Tablet computer displays are amenable for the development of vision tests in a portable form. Assessing color vision using an easily accessible and portable test may help in the self-monitoring of vision-related changes in ocular/ systemic conditions and assist in the early detection of disease processes. Tablet computer-based games were developed with different levels of gamification as a more portable option to assess chromatic contrast sensitivity. Game 1 was designed as a clinical version with no gaming el… Show more

“…One way to make perimetry more portable and inexpensive is to exploit modern tablet computers 18,19. Thus, a number of tablet-based apps have recently been developed for measuring visual field loss,2026 as well as other aspects of visual function such as visual acuity (VA),2730 contrast sensitivity (CS),3135 foveal defects,36 and stereopsis 37. The hope is that these tests could be used as an alternative to traditional, more expensive tests, or could allow patients to be monitored more regularly from the comfort of their own homes.…”

“…The present work is timely, as a number of other tabletbased tests have recently been reported, designed to measure various more basic aspects of visual function, such as visual acuity, 15,41,43,44 contrast sensitivity, [45][46][47][48][49] visual fields, 12,50-56 stereopsis, 57 and colour vision. 58,59 What distinguishes the tests described in the present study is that they are intended to measure 'high-level' function on everyday tasks.…”

“…In 2011, WHO de ned the term "mHealth" as a medical and public health practice supported by mobile devices such as mobile phones, patient monitors, PDAs, and other wireless devices (5). In ophthalmology, digital applications have developed with diabetes (6) and AMD 7, with the development of adapters for photographs of the anterior and posterior segments (8), the study of contrast sensitivity and color vision (9,10). Because of their portability, these new technologies are particularly interesting for improving eye health in developing countries (11).…”
