Muslims constitute roughly around one fifth of the world population, the majority of which are not Arabic speakers. This poses a problem for them in their devotional activities such as performing the five obligatory daily prayers and reading the Holy Qur’an because they could not understand what they are reciting or reading. Added to this, Muslim adults who are busy working usually find it hard to find the time to attend Quranic Arabic classes. In order to rectify this problem, some mobile app developers have created apps with the objective of teaching Muslims Quranic Arabic vocabulary items so that they could begin to learn and understand Quranic Arabic. In March 2019, there are about eleven Quranic Arabic vocabulary teaching mobile applications which could be downloaded from Google Play Store. These apps come with differing features and are of varying quality. This exploratory qualitative study aims to analyze the user reviews of these apps in order to determine areas where they can be further improved by the developers. The findings of this research found that generally developers should concentrate on three areas of improvement; their applications’ content, technical capability, and pricing strategy. It is hoped that the findings from this study can be used by Quranic Arabic vocabulary mobile app developers to further improve their apps so that the Muslim public can benefit more from them.

Mobile applications are growing rapidly and can be employed for various purposes. Presently, they have been applied widely in education. The pace of technological advancement is incredibly fast, impacting all segments of society. One noteworthy area is the facilitation of learning to read and write the Quran, where recent technological developments have significantly simplified the process. However, these applications have certain limitations as they solely concentrate on utilizing technology without incorporating more inventive approaches to aid Quran readers in interacting with, memorizing, comprehending, and establishing connections with the topics covered in the Quran. This paper aims to systematically review and analyze current research on the Quran mobile application. The study reviewed relevant literature indexed in Scopus, Web of Science (WOS), and Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) databases. Consequently, three key study themes have been identified after thoroughly analyzing the “Quran mobile application”: learning and memorization, text analysis and information retrieval, and user experience and engagement. As Quran mobile applications have increased accessibility to learning the Qur’an, they frequently concentrate only on the use of technology meanwhile innovative approaches to improve engagement, memorization, comprehension, and topic connections for Quran readers remain lacking. The outcomes of this study can serve as inspiration for other researchers, providing a solid groundwork for the development and improvements in understanding the Quran.

The objective of this paper is to apply Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) to identify the best open source Learning Management System (LMS) for an E-learning environment. FCA is a mathematical framework that represents knowledge derived from a formal context. In constructing the formal context, LMSs are treated as objects and their features as attributes. This context is analysed and classified into concepts based on the rules of FCA. The knowledge derived from the concepts and our analyses reveal that Moodle is exceptional, with more features when compared with other LMSs.
