Abstract: This paper deals with the long-term dynamic behaviors of a complex rotor-bearing system with multi-degrees-of-freedom and nonclosed form of the bearing forces. Since nonanalytical bearing forces can be available, to increase the numerical accuracy and decrease the CPU time, a new method is presented to calculate the Jacobians of the bearing forces and bearing forces themselves. The algorithm is concise and the computing efforts spent on the Jacobians are very small compared to spend on the bearing forces thems… Show more

“…Thus if we want to analyze the nonlinear phenomena of a rotating machine correctly, the hydrodynamic forces of the bearing have to be solved numerically. That is, Reynolds equation needs to be solved by discrete methods such as the finite difference method [5], or the finite element method [6,7], following the nonlinear dynamic analysis process of rotor-bearing system step by step, which, as mentioned above, is much more time-consuming. Not only these discrete methods will consume great computing time, but also it is difficult to give the global view of the nonlinear behavior of the system.…”

“…Jiao [4] analyzed dynamic characteristic of rotor-cylindrical bearing system with different oil-film force models including database method using the discrete model. In order to study dynamic characteristic of high-dimensional rotor systems, Zheng [5] established a model of the high-dimensional rotor system and proposed a dimension reduction method for the analysis on periodic stability of the model. Jing [6,7] established lower-dimensional finite element model with fixed-interface modal synthesis method, then carried out comparative analysis on dynamic characteristic of multi degree of freedom model and the discrete model; Wang [8] established dynamics model of turbogenerator shaft elliptical bearing-rotor system with the finite element method, and studied its stability and bifurcation with different methods based on the dimension reduction.…”
